Freestyle & Street Jazz Latin American and Modern Ballroom Classical Sequence Alternative Rhythms Formation Teams Home Professional Achievements What's New Since the Lane School of Dance, as it was first known, opened, many thousands of medallists have enjoyed successful training with us and there have been notable achievements for professionals as well. Marion Lane has won the ISTD All Professional Ladies Rumba competition and was the holder of the ISTD All Professional Ladies Sequence trophy for ten years. Her partners for these events were Chrissie Allen, Donna Smith, Mary Deville and her daughter Vanessa. The Phyllis Haylor Scholarship has been awarded by the ISTD to one newly qualified Associate teacher from those gaining Highly Commended in their examinations. Audition is by presentation of a subject chosen by the candidate from a list given by the ISTD and candidates from across the UK and overseas travel to enter this prestigious event. Marion is very proud that after training her daughter, Vanessa, for her first Associate qualification, Vanessa was awarded the Phyllis Haylor Scholarship and she later went on to open the successful Lane Academy, which specialises in Theatre studies.  The Scholarship has only ever been awarded to two candidates in the same year and this was to Mary Deville, who qualified after training with Marion and Sarah Peters who trained with Vanessa and who now works in partnership at the Lane Academy. More recently, in 2008, Claire Thompson who also trains with Marion Lane was awarded the Phyllis Haylor Scholarship.
