Choreographic Competition
On Sunday 30th June, Marion ran the Cambridgeshire Area Disco Freestyle Competition in which many of the pupils from our school took part. The highlight of the day was the choreographic event where the pupils are given a specific piece of music – this year it was from Sweeny Todd the film, (see pictures below), and together with their teacher they choreograph a dance to the music. This year we had 5 entries – Terry Collard, Megan Cracknell, Katie Ditchman and Kirsty Webb and Isabelle Proffitt. They all did brilliantly with the routines, and after a tough competition Terry won a 2nd place Katie a 6th place and Megan a 6th Place.
The results from the rest of the days competitions will be available from Ronnie.

My trip to Greece!

Hi everyone, we’re back!
It was a really successful trip – gaining a taste of the way of life and the teaching in the Greek dance schools was brilliant. On the Sunday, 4th May, Marion and I were working with the first Greek Associate Disco Freestyle Candidates, while 6 hours of Latin American courses were running in the other studio. At the coffee break the studios were opened up into one, and a spontaneous show took part – with August and Antonis showing some Modern Theatre, Michail some Hip Hop; and Marion and I danced a Foxtrot. There was clapping and cheering, and the atmosphere was buzzing!
Later on in the week, the examination sessions ran really well, and everyone was so excited to be the first people in Greece to take ISTD Examinations.
In September, we will be welcoming Anna-zoi and Antonis to England for a month, and they will be visiting classes and lessons with Marion and I.
See you all at your next class or lesson, Claire.

Easter Party

Thank you again to everyone who came along and joined in the Easter party on Sunday 13th April. The day was a great success, and it was lovely to see the mum’s and dads up dancing too! I am sure you will all agree, the professional demonstration by Stephen and Lesya Sysum was brilliant, and as Stephen said, they were able to show how some of the Basic figures can look brilliant with a lot of hard work.
There were lots of games and mini competitions, one of which was ‘Make an Easter Hat.’ There were some brilliant hats entered, so well done everyone that took their time to make one – particularly to Ariana Bentley, and Joshua Grover, who won the competition.
Lastly, I am pleased to tell you that the Raffle raised £70.00 and the Tea Bar raised £137.00 – which will all be put towards the next presentation and demonstration couple. To see pictures of the afternoon, click here. Claire.
